Jayanta Chakraborti is the author of the book The Cinderella Jones Affair and also working as Associate Professor at Mangalmay Institute. His educational background includes PhD in Business Analytics (currently pursuing), MBA in Marketing & Finance from IMI Europe, M.A in Economics from DAVV University, B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Agartala and Certification in German from Goethe Institute. He is also a SAP certified ERP Consultant & has done Honors in Network Computing from NIIT. Jayanta Chakraborti was the former Dean of IIPM Chandigarh, where he had been ranked as the best faculty for 10 years in succession. He has been actively involved in the setting up of IIPM Campuses at Mumbai, Chennai, Pune and Indore. Prior to working at IIPM, he has worked as Maintenance Engineer, Project Manager and Research Analyst at several Steel and IT companies. His total span of corporate work experience and research exceeds more than 18 years. He currently takes pride in teaching Business Analytics, Internet Marketing and Consumer Behaviour at Mangalmay Institute. He has also conducted several training programs jointly with eminent faculties from IMD Lausanne, NYU Stern, Cambridge, INSEAD and Haas School of Business, Berkley. He has been actively involved in strategic consulting projects for Fortune 500 companies like Coca Cola, Sony, Henkel, Videocon, Akai and GES Australia. He is an avid writer and his widely acclaimed articles have been published in well-known journals and newspapers like The Human Factor, 4Ps & Marketing, Strategic Innovator, Maharashtra Herald and the Indian Express. His first book “The Cinderella Jones Affair” is slated for release this year.

Jayanta is currently teaching subjects like Business Analytics, Internet Marketing, Information System Management, Consumer Behavior and Services Marketing to post-graduate students of business management. Jayanta’s well acclaimed research papers on Business Analytics have been accepted at international conferences like GCMRM hosted by MDI Gurgaon and Northampton-Amity University. He enjoys a rating score of 86%, as peer feedback given by students.
As Dean at Indian Institute of Planning and Management, Jayanta was instrumental in setting up branches at Mumbai, Chennai, Pune, Indore and Chandigarh. He was conferred the “Most Consistent Performer Award” in 2010, and the best faculty awards for eight years in succession from 2005 to 2012. He conducted MDP (Management Development Programs) jointly with reputed faculties from IMD Lausanne, NYU Stern, Cambridge, INSEAD and Haas School of Business, Berkley. He has written several articles on the same in Indian Express, 4Ps Business & Marketing and Strategic Innovators.
As a research analyst working for ICMR, Jayanta has done market research and consulting assignments for Coca Cola, GES Australia, ICICI Bank, DRDO, Akai, Henkel, Autodesk, Radisson, Punjab National Bank, Hissan Kathmandu and others.
As Business Development Engineer at SISPL, Jayanta was responsible for marketing system integration and SAP consulting competencies to clients in USA, Europe and Asia Pacific.
As Senior Engineer (Maintenance) at Electrosteel Castings Limited, Jayanta was instrumental in conducting activities like Total Productive Maintenance, Preventive Maintenance and Break-down Maintenance at the Steel Plants, Mini Blast Furnace and Power Plants.
As Maintenance Engineer at Usha Ispat Limited, Jayanta was responsible for maintenance and upkeep of Mini Blast Furnaces, Conveyor Belts, Power Plants and Pig Casting Machines.
